Landscapes & Memories
Memoryscapes, a refinement to conceptual maps of meaning, champions the idea there are planes of meaning through which the individuals collectively sustain intelligibility and comprehensibility.
Growing up in rural surroundings is defined by the ever present horizon. Bounded by where the sky touched the earth the scope of one’s world was confined to a tapestry of fields dotted with farms and edged by woodlands
Within these scapes, a single day reaches out across memory, giving pause to the moment. Distance and time blur the horizon line yet even diminished across a lifetime, the memory still bares the weight of its making; juxtaposing the iconic and the familiar, folding them like a dream, time and distance are subverted to the cause of meaning.
This series distills portraiture and landscape to subvert the viewer’s expectations and invite them to take measure their memories.
